"Mailprotector Saves Our Bacon! The UK is currently (July 2007) experiencing some of the worst flooding on record and our UK datacenter is in a town called Gloucester in the centre of England. "We, and especially our users, have been EXTREMELY happy with the quality of services (i.e. blocked SPAM and viruses) through Mailprotector. We recently tried another solution from our ISP but quickly switched back because we found it to be far inferior.

Unfortunately there will always be false positives. That's why we like being able to allow users to manage their own SPAM stores on the Mailprotector servers and release a message to their inbox without our intervention. It's also a key feature that messages blocked due to virus detection are permanently deleted so they never even enter our network. Mailprotector adds to our security by being faster at developing responses to new threats than the client/server anti-virus we use.

Over time using their services may cost more than a purchased appliance running an open source solution but probably not more than a solution that requires a service contract for updates. In our opinion we save money by freeing up our time for other, more important functions than managing a SPAM solution.
