URL filtering is a critical piece of Web security, particularly to increase employee productivity & reduce compliance or security risks. However, categories alone are not enough to provide complete protection.
Any given Web site has an average of 50 objects per page – rendering traditional URL filtering databases useless. Our Web Security Service's Dynamic Response Classifier™ is a real-time dynamic classification engine that picks up where traditional URL filtering databases leave off, to address the remaining unclassified sites or the “long tail” of the Web.
The Dynamic Response Classifier operates in real time as part of the proxy, reviews response traffic, & dynamically classifies Web sites based on the actual content of the page. Our systems analyze HTTP header information, page content & embedded links in order to achieve a more holistic review of the site’s safety & intent. This allows for a richer, more complete view of what’s actually happening on the page & closes the gap that static, database-driven URL filtering solutions leave behind.
Unlike static URL filtering lists, this fluid technology allows Web sites to move within a continuum of “dangerous” to “safe” based on changes in behavior. Thus, a site that has been compromised & assigned a “dangerous” rating can be redeemed after all traces of malware have been removed.
